italian producer & hot mix label boss nick anthony simoncino is back with some people , a collaboration with chicago s legendary house vocalist robert owens. simoncino s 3 original mixes sound just like tracks lifted off lost ep s straight from the mid 80 s with deep, melancholy synths, driving analogue drum machine sounds and owen s yearning vocal performance coming together beautifully while showing off simoncino s versatility as a producer. some people is perfect late night house music with a classic sensibility, for the deepest hours of the night or the morning.

tck are gerd janson , who otherwise runs the spledid running back label and philipp lauer, who produces grand music under his own name and is half of the fantastic arto mwambe. they just remixed sven väth among many other fab projects, atop that are both irresistable deejays and have a pedigree of being some of the nicest blokes that we know! but that all said, you havent eventually heard the best. its called pf01.02.03.04 and are their tracks made for this record.

debut release on studio barnhus from our man in wroclaw: pawel klimczak, a.k.a. naphta. this thomas mann-readin, sun ra-diggin young pole made palm trees love and spring ball so we could all keep the magic summer of 2014 blazin just a little bit longer. dzieki, pawel! simon haydo, our man on alpha centauri, delivers a deadly remix of spring ball, reworking the nice & bouncy original into a warehouse-maddening techno missile with that extra haydo twist.

after the very successful 64 ways ep that we released earlier this summer we are ready for more dam swindle boxed out goodness. the boys have selected some of their fave producers to lay their hands on four originals from the album. pressing on 180 gram vinyl.

on tuff ruff the ethiopian producer blends cultural vocals and swirling synths with a masenqo lute, giving the track its worldly flair. the composition - a seifu-described mix of ethiopian folk and uk garage, doesnt feel like a dance song theres an ancestral vibe at work, something richer than the typical oontz oontz youd hear in nightclubs. as a result, tuff ruff isnt weird at all. just approach it with an open mind.

after years of toiling behind a paper thin veil of obscurity c powers is finally starting to burst into view. having just finished handling production duties for recent houndstooth signees 18+, c powers continues to demonstrate his sonic versatility with the *up neck* ep (cgi007), his proper cgi debut.

mallorcas dakpa has been on a roll since amam released his debut ep last fall. he has contributed to several compilations, including amams own hand out series, kina music s fade to k pt. 3 and wizz vinyl s sonar sampler 2014, plus eps for labels like district raw and serial number 849. but amam gets the honor of issuing his first own vinyl release, the distres ep. the opening title track is an exercise in jacking minimalism, vibrant tech house with just the essentials, but more than enough to get the floor moving. then, ademus gets into a slightly more colorful groove, with tropical percussive interplay and some whooping voice for a humanistic accent (is that brigitte bardot?). on the flip, virgo gives a modern update to the frenzy of acid house. the title alone brings virgo four to mind. on that note, this one is an effective tool for warping minds and evoking spastic dance moves. finally, the dependable gaetano vinci a.k.a. hooved reinterprets ademus with a heavy dose of melodic funk and symphonic washes, making the track into an entirely new creation.

outboxx return to brstl two years on from their first release on the label, tougher and more dance floor focused. although primarily known for deeper house sounds for labels such as futureboogie, they have never been afraid to experiment as exemplified on their debut lp for idle hands. here they turn their attention to deep techno, with two stripped back cuts that retain the warmth of their other productions. sequential circles drills down on a singular, angular riff whilst neatly deployed percusiion hits at just the right moments. moon loop whirls round on a deep spacey groove in keeping with its title. another strong release from the bristol focused brstl label.

black drop effects is named after the black drop effect, the dark bridge which appears to join two almost-touching bodies against bright light: famously, venus becoming teardropshaped on its transit across the sun, just before it moves into the darkness of space. all four tracks on this ep from italian-born producer palese are named after scientific aspects of the planet venus, confirming that industrial can most certainly still be intriguing. the ep surprises you with twists and turns, defying any stereotypical assumption of techno being all uniform monotony.

one of las smartest young voices says the la times…which the artist suspects, may just be a covert way of saying la is dumb. “open” mike eagle wouldnt terribly mind, being born and raised in chicago where the painful winters and his uppity grandparents kept him inside as a youth. he spent his formative years watching alternative music happen on mtv and hoping to one day be able to audition for the native tongues. as a young adult after graduating with a degree in psychology, he did the next best thing and moved to los angeles, joining the project blowed collective where he made music and toured with busdriver, aceyalone, abstract, nocando, and more. he has also gained notoriety in the world of comedy by being invited by professional funny people (paul f. tompkins, hannibal buress, matt besser/ucb) to rap at their shows. he would like to be raps kurt vonnegut but recognizes that he would first have to create something as iconic as the four-stroke illustration of an anus. he practices by releasing rap albums that delight, entertain, and confuse.

first up we have some seriously funked up jazz disco business here, vocals have been stripped out apart from the line searching, fierce drums and percussion, baseline is just sublime with keys to die for singing out over the top, gorgeous guitar with soaring strings, extended to keep those feet happy on the dance floor.
